Events of Jamia Hafsa; time for reflection for entire nation: PM
|
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Thursday said this is time for reflection for the entire nation, as the events related to Jamia Hafsa have hurt the entire nation and our faith.
"We are all saddened at the loss of lives and we need to practice and propagate peace, harmony and understanding," he added.

The prime minister was chairing a high level meeting here at the PM House to update the Federal Ministers at the conclusion of the operation at the Jamia Hafsa.
The Ministers present in the meeting expressed their concern over the presence of foreigners and trained terrorists at the Madressa and said no institution should be allowed to propagate violence, extremism or militancy.
The prime minister specifically thanked the residents of the G-6 Sector in the vicinity of Jamia Hafsa who have displayed exemplary patience and courage.
"It was because of their co-operation that the operation concluded with desired results", he added.
The prime minister assured that all activities would return to normal very soon and people would be able to live a peaceful life.
He also appreciated the role of Pakistan Army, Rangers, Police and the Islamabad Administration for their commitment, dedication and professionalism.
The prime minister said that the government undertook maximum precautions with a view to save precious lives of innocent people living in the surrounding area.
He said that due to this strategy, the government was not only able to save over 1000 lives of innocent inmates of Jamia Hafsa but many others living in the vicinity.
The meeting was attended by PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Leader of the House in Senate Wasim Sajjad, several federal ministers and senior officials.

Jamia Hafsa was compound of terrorism: Sherpao |
Federal Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said that Jamia Hafsa was not a religious seminary but an organized compound of terrorism.
He was talking to a private TV channel after visiting Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa where he was given a detailed briefing about the operation. |
Federal Interior Secretary Syed Kamal Shah and other senior army officials were present on the occasion.
To a question he said that two suicide belts, RPG rifles and mines were found inside the seminary and the fingers signs of Abdul Rahid Ghazi were also visible on one of these items.
He said that Lal Masjid has not been damaged, however, he said that the mosque if damaged would be properly repaired after consulting with the architects.
Aftab Sherpao said that according to the Supreme Court Maulana Abdul Aziz was allowed to participate in the funeral of his younger brother Maulana Abdul Rashid at Rojhan Mazari.
He said that legal action will be taken against Maulana Abdul Aziz and his family.
To another question the Interior Minister said that the rituals were completed in accordance with the Islamic teachings. He said that security measures were taken for the protection of masses on the occasion.
