PML-N fails to form grand alliance of APC
|
Head of Pakistan Muslim League PML (N), Mian Nawaz Sharif's efforts to form an All Parties Democratic Alliance comprising all the Opposition parties got a big blow when Pakistan people's party (PPP) along with other small parties boycotted the summit meeting here on Wednesday.
After this move, the alliance of PML (N), PPP and other opposition parties has apparently shattered.
|
PPP and some other parties have refused to become part of an alliance in the presence of Mutahida Majlas-e-Amal (MMA) and said they would not make any coalition with a party, which supports terrorism and extremism.
After the All Parties Conference (APC) held under auspices of PML (N) here in London, Mian Nawaz Sharif had asked the heads of opposition parties to stay there to discuss issues pertaining to formation of All Parties Democratic Alliance, a Movement against the Government and collective resignations from the assemblies.
Leader of the Opposition, Maulana Fazalur Rehman caused a big problem for host of APC Mian Nawaz Sharif by refusing to attend the meeting for supporting operation against Lal Masjid by Benazir Bhutto.
However, Maulana Fazalur Rehman agreed to attend the meeting after getting assurance that Amin Faheem would represent Benazir Bhutto in the meeting.
In the beginning of the meeting, PPP adopted a stiff stance and levelling allegations of terrorism on MMA, said it would not make alliance with these parties and along with six other small parties boycotted the meeting.
As a result, efforts of Mian Nawaz Sharif to form a big alliance comprising all opposition parties were miserably failed.
After refusal of PPP and its allied parties, MMA, Tehrik-e-Insaaf, Pakhtoon-khaw Milli Awami Party, ANP and some small parties remained in the meeting and later an All Parties Democratic Alliance comprising these parties was made.
The first public meeting of the new alliance will be organised in Quetta while meeting of the alliance will be held in the Federal Capital on July 30 at residence of Raja Zafar-ul-Haq.
According to political analysts, after the boycott, both the PPP and PML (N) have parted their ways and ARD has divided while PML (N) has formed a new political alliance with MMA, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) and other regional parties.
The sources informed that Mian Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan tried to put pressure on leaders of opposition parties for giving a final date for the announcement of resignation from assemblies.
However, Maulana Fazalur Rehman took a clear stand saying it is not possible to give final date for announcement of resignations.
Head of PPP delegation, Amin Faheem after boycotting the meeting made it clear that his party would not do anything out of the agenda of ARD.
Mian Nawaz Sharif said that all like-minded parties were present in the meeting while those who have conflicting views boycotted.
